A Message to 2020 Couples
“Marry someone you could stand being isolated with for (possibly) months”, is the new “marry your best friend”.
- Martine Russel
Planning your wedding at the best of times can be overwhelming and with the current uncertain times it is even more stressful. There are so many questions when thinking of the future.
When will we be able to stand close together again?
When can we hug our parents and grandparents?
When will be able to gather with our friends?
Helen and I are here to help you get through it.
As a couple this is such a good time to focus on your relationship. Be honest with one another, support each other, make each other laugh and be there for each other when you are feeling more fragile. This is the best person to go through this trying time with.
Having a backup plan is crucial right now. Be realistic about the future and accept that things are sometimes out of your control. This situation snuck up on us and took us by surprise. Allow yourself the time to come to terms with it. Have open honest conversations with vendors, we are here to help you figure this out.
It is tempting to put pressure on yourself to be as productive as possible when staying at home. However this is a time to be kind to yourself and accept that not all days are going to be as productive as others. We have been given the gift of time, an opportunity to slow down. Take advantage of this quarantine to focus on your mental health. Try out meditation, do some live yoga classes and finally get 8+ hours of sleep every night.
For us mountain people, staying inside is hard. As a group we thrive off of outdoor activity. We can focus on building strength inside so that when we are allowed to play again you are feeling strong and capable. Take daily walks in our beautiful backyard and take days off to watch a show you never had time to watch before.
Spend time connecting with family and friends online. Call your best friend that you haven’t spoken to in a long time, drink your favourite craft beer and chat about how weird the world is.
Yes, this time is hard. But, we are all going through this together.
Helen and I are here to chat. If you need to reschedule your wedding please contact us. We are looking forward to capturing your special day very soon.
