Heli Elopement on Rainbow Glacier
So Monday was a pretty special heli-elopement - the stars aligned to bring together the perfect couple, the perfect vendors and the perfect location! Victoria & Benjamin deferred their original elopement date to wait for perfect weather and Monday delivered the goods!
We all met at the Blackcomb Helicopters base just North of Whistler village and listened to the safety briefing. Extra precautions have to be addressed due to COVID-19 regulations. We have total admiration for the couples who have adapted their wedding plans despite the current circumstances.
Even though Victoria’s family were not able to attend from overseas, we still filled three helicopters and set off to our ceremony location in the alpine high country. Despite being terrified of flying, Victoria was extremely witty and relaxed - one of those amazing brides who just embraces everything.
It was a pleasure to witness Jeremy aka the Whistler Wedding Pastor deliver another flawless ceremony for these two on the top of Rainbow Glacier.
The outstanding natural beauty Garibaldi Provincial Park will never get old. The highlight of the flight for me was getting up close and personal with Mount Fee - an interesting rock formation just south of Callaghan Lake. It is so special to see our regular hiking spots from above. Every time I see more of British Columbia, the more vast it becomes. If you want to inspire yourself to adventure more, take a flight with Blackcomb Helicopters.
We chose The Spit in Whistler as the valley location for the post-ceremony photo session. The light on that side of Green Lake at around 5:30pm is perfect for couple portraits. The abundance of wild Lupin makes for great foreground also!
This elopement was such a joy to photograph - they were both very relaxed and needed little direction. (Victoria’s previous modelling experience definitely helped!) The total adoration for each other was obvious and I wish them all the best for the future!
Victoria & Benjamin met two years ago in South Korea and have only been apart for a week since then. We bonded over common hobbies like Muay Thai - it turns out that Benjamin trained at the same gym as my brother in Phuket, Thailand and they most likely sparred each other multiple times! Small world.
