Backcountry Elopement at Mount Rohr in Pemberton

Well, wasn’t this an incredible elopement to be invited to photograph and join. This was one of those days that all I could think was “as if this is my job”.

The Whistler Wedding Pastor, Leanna, Mike and I hiked up to Rohr Lake just outside of Pemberton on a beautiful morning in June. We hiked about 5kms to the lake, set up camp, ate some snacks and then set off up into the alpine. We had all planned to summit Mount Rohr for Leanna & Mike's ceremony in the mountains but when we got a little higher into the mountains we all realized there was still tons of snow. Quickly we made the decision to stay a little lower in the valley to make sure we weren’t rushed or walking down through the snow at night. This perfect flat rock stuck out to all of us after we made the decision that seemed perfect for their ceremony. Since we had a little extra time we ventured over to a tarn close by for a quick swim and chill in the sunshine.

Leanna & Mike both got changed on rocks beside each other overlooking the lake and the valley. They did their sneak peek on the flat rock and then Jeremy hosted a beautiful ceremony surrounded by the mountains. It was beautiful seeing two people so clearly in love celebrate their relationship by doing something that they love so much, which is be outside in nature. After the ceremony we celebrated with chocolate and champagne. It was getting pretty cold and the sun was covered by a big cloud. We ended up waiting for the sun to come back out before heading back to camp and I am SO happy we did. It was really fun running around on the rocks and taking a million photos of these two at this incredible place.

After the ceremony Leanna & Mike got changed and we all walked back down to camp together. I had probably one of my best sleeps that summer and then the next day we wandered back down to the car. Thank you thank you thank you to Leanna, Mike and Jeremy for inviting me to be a part of this elopement. I could not be more grateful to have been the one to photograph it!
