Why Choose A Whistler Wedding?
“Mountains are not stadiums where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, they are the cathedrals where I practice my religion.” – Anatoli Boukreev
There is something truly magical about celebrating love in Whistler. Stop and look around. The landscape is simply breathtaking. Stop again, it doesn’t get boring. Whatever the weather, Whistler offers a grand stage for the most important day of your life.
Last year, I was hiking on the Beehive trail at Lake Louise, the fog was thick and the view was limited. I passed a woman who was consoling a group of disappointed tourists; she told them,
“Every weather has its beauty.”
I continued to hike further and broke through the fog where fast moving clouds weaved between alpine peaks. It was spectacular.
Whistler is a transient town dishing up a tasty concoction of skiing, hiking and climbing. Many people come and go, sometimes fellow adventurers are lucky enough to make a special connection. Whether it’s a ‘goggle hotty’ on the slopes, an accidental shoulder nap on the bus, or a sloppy love affair at Garfs, love seeps through from the peak to the valley.
Don’t waste money on trying to impress people that don’t care about you. Ignore the bs that doesn’t matter! Couples who get married in Whistler KNOW what’s important:
Your experience of a place is amplified by the people you share it with.
Choose a wedding party full of guests that have had a significant impact on your life and have your best intentions at heart. Quality not quantity. It seems cliché, but a handful of deep connections make more magic than a crowd of acquaintances who come along for the free booze.
As you get to know Whistler, it will change you and you will come to understand a new layer of beauty. Hike Panorama Ridge to watch the sunset over an electric blue lake, float past bears along the river of golden dreams, or ski from the top of the world to the creek below.
No words have ever resonated more true than these from Jeremy Postal, the Whistler Wedding Pastor:
“I’ve found over the years that my faith comes most alive and is most vibrant when I am in wild spaces, high country, and near the sea....an outdoor cathedral unhindered by ceilings and boundaries. These wild spaces have become my places of prayer, inspiration, comradeship and they are where I think the clearest, dream the ridiculous , and learn the most about who I am, who God might be, and how we are all connected to the world around us.”
Whistler is a vibrant, creative, exciting community and the mountains are the church. If you’re looking for pure magic, a higher love, there’s nowhere better for it.
